Twenty Technologies in Arlington, VA seeks an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to design and build high-throughput services that transform real-time data into mission-critical capabilities. You will own core backend components, drive architecture decisions, and mentor engineers while shaping security-focused software across cloud and on-prem environments.

• Mentors engineers through code reviews and guidance.
• Strong security fundamentals: secure coding and threat modeling.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical partners.
• Leads incident response and durable fixes.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build high-throughput backend services that process real-time data.
• Lead technical design reviews and choose pragmatic approaches for new features.
• Design event-driven, distributed systems that are resilient and observable.
• Define stable APIs for internal/external consumers and collaborate with frontend.
• Improve engineering excellence through reviews, standards, testing, and incident practices.
• Build and maintain CI/CD workflows for rapid, secure delivery.
• Troubleshoot production issues and lead incident response.
• Partner with product/ops to translate needs into deliverables.
• Contribute to technical strategy and roadmap across backend services.
• Support hiring by participating in interviews and defining what great looks like.
