Chime Financial, Inc. is seeking a backend engineer to scale and evolve the Cards portfolio. You’ll design and build robust APIs and services, mentor teammates, and collaborate with product, risk, and design to deliver secure systems at scale.

This full-time role involves on-call duties, architecture decisions, and partnering with data engineers and product managers to ship impactful features that protect members and improve experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development in production at scale.
• Experience leading teams and driving architectural decisions.
• Strong Ruby on Rails experience.
• Experience with transactional databases and caching systems.
• Mentoring engineers and collaborating cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical design and architectural decisions, mentoring engineers and fostering cross-functional collaboration.
• Lead and contribute to multiple projects, balancing ownership with broader team support.
• Build and maintain robust, low-latency APIs and backend services powering Trust and Safety platforms.
• Become domain expert in platform architecture and provide technical decisions for refinement of platforms.
• Partner with data engineers, analysts, and product managers to ship impactful features for member protection and experience.
• Improve platform reliability and performance through architecture, observability, and automation.
