Job summary

Charles River Development is seeking an experienced Cloud Native Platform Engineer to automate and streamline operations, build deployment/monitoring tools, and troubleshoot across dev, test, and production environments. Expertise in Kubernetes, AKS, GitOps, and cloud-native patterns is essential.

The role partners with engineering leaders and clients to ensure scalable, secure platform solutions, driving reliability and FinOps across multi-region deployments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in cloud engineering, with platform experience or solution architecture.
• Extensive experience with Kubernetes, containers, and distributed systems.
• Strong expertise in Azure (AKS), with exposure to AWS/GCP and cloud-native architectures.
• Hands-on experience with DevOps tooling: ArgoCD, Terraform, Azure DevOps, scripting.
• Operational experience with observability tools: Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry.
• Experience influencing or owning platform/product roadmaps with Product Management.
• Solid background in cloud-native concepts, performance optimization, security, and governance.
• Bachelor’s degree required.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate AKS platforms supporting mission-critical workloads.
• Manage multi-cluster and multi-region AKS deployments with HA and DR.
• Own platform lifecycle: upgrades, patching, node pools, hardening.
• Define and enforce standardized AKS patterns across dev/non-prod/prod.
• Onboard and modernize workloads into containerized, cloud-native architectures.
• Enable scalable deployments using microservices, API-first, and event-driven patterns.
• Support integration across enterprise systems including hybrid/on-prem.
• Implement GitOps-based deployments using ArgoCD.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines on Azure DevOps / GitHub Actions.
• Develop IaC solutions using Terraform for Azure resources and AKS provisioning.
• Automate operational workflows: provisioning, scaling, recovery.
• Design observability frameworks with Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry.
• Ensure proactive monitoring of cluster health and performance; drive RCA and reliability.
• Define and enforce SLOs, SLIs, and platform KPIs.
• Lead troubleshooting across Kubernetes, Azure, and network layers.
• Cost optimization and FinOps for AKS and Azure resources.
• Bridge Cloud Platform Eng, Product, Architecture, and Business teams; provide leadership.
