Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Systems Engineer (AWS Data Engineer) to advance a healthcare data platform modernization. You will architect and migrate XML data stores to cloud-native AWS services, enabling SQL-based reports for business users.

The role requires deep AWS data services experience, strong SQL, IaC, CI/CD, and collaboration with .NET developers. Remote, full-time, with Public Trust (MBI) eligibility and US citizenship constraints. Veterans are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software or data engineering with strong AWS focus.
• Experience architecting cloud data migrations in production environments.
• Proven track record of evaluating and selecting AWS data services to meet reporting needs.
• Experience delivering analytics solutions for non-technical business users.
• Strong SQL skills for relational query layers over XML/JSON data.

Responsibilities

• Lead the healthcare data platform modernization initiative.
• Architect the migration of XML object store data to AWS data services for scalable queries.
• Design and deploy a robust reporting and query layer for business users.
• Collaborate with back-end developers to ensure smooth data flow through pipelines.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data infrastructure using AWS-native tooling.
• Apply IaC practices using CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
• Document architecture decisions and data dictionaries clearly.
