Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator for a remote, U.S.-based role supporting the Veterans Affairs (VA) department. This full-time position seeks an experienced candidate with a Public Trust (MBI) clearance.

You will manage and upgrade complex AWS environments, work on Windows and Linux systems, and implement IaC with CloudFormation, Terraform, or CDK, while adhering to security practices including HIPAA, GDPR, and SOC 2.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in system administration focusing on cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with AWS security practices and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2).
• U.S. Citizenship required; Public Trust (MBI) clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex operating systems and server hardware.
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
• Follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
• Coordinate, direct, and perform complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
• Schedule installations and upgrades and maintain them in accordance with established IT procedures.
