Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to support a remote Veterans Affairs project. This position is 100% remote in the United States and requires holding a Public Trust (MBI) clearance. The role is a full-time W-2 opportunity with mandatory US citizenship.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of system administration experience, extensive AWS expertise, and strong Windows/Linux skills to manage scalable cloud infrastructure and ensure security and reliability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in system administration with a focus on cloud infrastructure.
• Experience managing and optimizing AWS environments at scale.
• Strong Windows and Linux/Unix administration skills.
• Knowledge of HIPAA/GDPR/SOC 2 security controls is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-level, day-to-day maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex operating systems and server hardware.
• Coordinate, direct, and perform software installations and upgrades to operating systems and software packages.
• Monitor and tune multiple systems for optimum performance.
• Develop and implement SOPs and maintenance schedules.
• Plan server modernization and data backups.
