Job summary

Iteris is seeking an Associate Vice President to lead transportation planning initiatives in Southern California. You will drive client relationships with public agencies, guide multi‑discipline teams, and shape regional mobility programs across active transportation, transit, and roadways.

The role emphasizes staff mentorship, business development, and effective coordination with engineering and ITS groups to support growth objectives in California.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Transportation field.
• PE/TE licensure or PTOE/PTP/AICP desired.
• At least ten years in transportation planning.
• At least five years in a leadership role.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams is preferred.
• Experience in business development within Transportation Planning.
• Proven track record of public sector client service.
• Strong leadership and communications skills.
• Knowledge of California transportation market preferred.
• Familiar with Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM, GIS, AutoCAD, MicroStation.

Responsibilities

• Lead client relationships with Southern California agencies.
• Coordinate multi-jurisdictional stakeholders to build regional consensus.
• Oversee public engagement with equity metrics.
• Identify and pursue upcoming RFPs across Southern California counties.
• Lead proposals and assemble project teams.
• Form strategic partnerships with DBEs, SBEs, and subconsultants.
• Oversee long-range transportation plan preparation and CEQA/NEPA studies.
• Negotiate scopes of work, fees, and contract terms with agencies.
• Manage profitability, burn rates, and scheduling of projects.
• Mentor mid-level and junior planners and engineers.
• Represent the firm at regional industry groups.
