Job summary

Iteris, Inc. seeks an Associate Vice President to lead transportation planning and ITS initiatives across Southern California public agencies and private clients.

You will guide project delivery, business development, and staff mentorship within our transportation planning and ITS teams to support regional growth. The ideal candidate has at least ten years in transportation planning, with leadership experience and a strong network in California's public sector.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning or related field.
• Professional licensure or certification: PE/TE, PTOE, PTP or AICP preferred.
• At least ten years as a demonstrated expert in transportation planning.
• At least five years in a leadership role with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Experience in business development within Transportation Planning.
• Strong understanding of California transportation market and policies.
• Proficiency with Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM, GIS, AutoCAD, MicroStation.

Responsibilities

• Client relationship leadership with senior agency officials in Southern California.
• Coordinate multi-jurisdictional stakeholders on regional corridors and transit projects.
• Oversee public engagement strategies meeting equity metrics and meaningful participation.
• Identify and pursue upcoming public sector RFPs across Southern California counties.
• Lead major public sector pursuits, including writing approaches and team structures.
• Form strategic partnerships with DBEs/SBEs and other subconsultants to meet goals.
• Oversee long-range transportation plans and CEQA/NEPA analyses for multimodal data.
• Negotiate scopes, fees, and terms with public procurement officers.
• Ensure profitability, burn rates, and scheduling of a multimillion-dollar project portfolio.
• Mentor mid-level and junior transportation planners and engineers.
• Manage staff utilization and workload across the Southern California planning practice.
• Represent the firm at ITE, WTS, APWA, APA California and university forums.
