Job summary

American Property Casualty Insurance Association is seeking a Director/Senior Director, Personal Lines, to analyze legal and public policy issues affecting personal lines insurance and coordinate with APCIA members on policy positions. The role involves developing materials, working with senior APCIA leaders, and guiding policy initiatives.

The position requires strong writing and analytical skills, legal research familiarity, and experience with regulatory frameworks.

Qualifications

• Educational Requirements: College degree, Law degree beneficial; Minimum five (director) or seven (senior director) years related experience and/or training.
• Significant knowledge of research resources and legal research software such as WestLaw and LexisNexis.
• Experience with the insurance regulatory system preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate property insurance regulation and legislative proposals for APCIA members.
• Draft wording and/or modify legislation; draft advocacy materials.
• Develop issue-oriented advocacy content for emails, websites, social media, etc.
• Coordinate with the Personal Lines Department (PRI) to facilitate meetings and materials.
• Develop or coordinate personal property-related thought leadership documents for policy adoption.
• Develop and maintain expertise in assigned insurance subject areas and track updates.
• Conduct multi-jurisdictional research on property-casualty issues.
• Represent APCIA at industry meetings and build stakeholder relationships.
• Inform member companies of legislative/regulatory developments and APCIA policy positions.
