Job summary

FIU Foundation in Miami is seeking an Assistant Vice President for Estate and Gift Planning to lead a multi-year program that expands philanthropic support through bequests, trusts, gift annuities, and other planned giving vehicles.

You will partner with university and foundation leadership to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major and principal gifts while guiding staff and ensuring program compliance.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in an appropriate specialization and six years of experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialization and eight years of experience.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in gift planning, estate planning, or major gift fundraising (preferably in higher education).
• Strong leadership and relationship-building ability, with success cultivating with estate planning and legal/financial advisors.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the development and execution of a comprehensive, multi-year Estate and Gift planning program.
• Lead and manage estate and gift planning staff, oversee marketing and compliance for the program.
• Cultivate strategic relationships with donors, advisors, and University/Foundation leadership.
• Negotiate and finalize terms of complex new planned and estate gifts with internal teams.
• Monitor progress toward revenue and activity goals and report to senior leadership.
• Represent the University and Foundation at professional organizations and events.
