Job summary

Nationwide seeks an AVP, Casualty Underwriting Performance, E&S/Specialty and Commercial Lines, to lead strategic initiatives across casualty portfolios. You will shape underwriting philosophy, drive profitability, and align risk appetite with enterprise goals, collaborating across Pricing, Reinsurance, Claims, Product, and Distribution.

A senior leader with 10–25 years of underwriting experience is required.

Qualifications

• 10–25 years of commercial/E&S casualty underwriting experience.
• Leadership experience managing underwriting leaders.
• Exposure to both field and staff office operations.

Responsibilities

• Set enterprise underwriting philosophy and strategic direction for casualty portfolio.
• Drive market trends, pricing and coverage strategies to stay competitive.
• Develop and maintain a strategic roadmap for market disruptors and capabilities.
• Engage with reinsurance brokers and external markets to benchmark performance.
• Collaborate on treaty design, ceded structure, and capacity management.
