Job description

Our client, a growing specialty P&C insurance carrier and reinsurer, is expanding its Specialty Casualty team and seeking an AVP-level Underwriter to support a diverse portfolio of casualty programs and assumed reinsurance business. This individual will be responsible for evaluating new opportunities, managing existing programs, reviewing underwriting referrals, and working closely with MGA partners, brokers, and internal teams to drive profitable portfolio growth.

The ideal candidate will bring 5 years of underwriting experience, preferably in primary General Liability or Excess Casualty, with a background in traditional carrier underwriting, treaty reinsurance, and/or program/portfolio underwriting. Responsibilities will include evaluating program performance, reviewing underwriting guidelines, negotiating program and reinsurance agreements, and collaborating with Actuarial, Claims, and Finance. Experience across both direct casualty underwriting and treaty reinsurance is highly desirable, although candidates with a strong background in either area will be considered.

This position will join an experienced five-person Specialty Casualty team overseeing over $250M in premium. Candidates based in South Florida or willing to relocate are preferred, with relocation assistance available. Remote candidates throughout the U.S. will also be considered, with travel to the South Florida office approximately once a month initially and quarterly thereafter. The opportunity offers a competitive base salary and annual performance bonus.
