Job summary

Apex is seeking a Senior Avionics Test Engineer to join our growing test team in Playa Vista, CA. You will own the hardware test racks and testbeds, develop interfaces, and collaborate with electrical, mechanical, RF, software, and systems engineers to verify spacecraft hardware against specifications.

This hands-on role requires bringing up hardware, defining test architectures, troubleshooting with oscilloscopes, VNAs and other instruments, and driving issues to resolution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related field.
• 6+ years of aerospace hardware, avionics, electronics, or integrated hardware testing experience.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory instrumentation and hardware bring-up.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical requirements.
• Strong problem-solving skills with ability to drive issues to resolution.

Responsibilities

• Own design, build, integration, and maintenance of bus-level and component-level avionics test racks.
• Develop and maintain FlatSats and avionics testbeds and supporting infrastructure.
• Lead hardware integration activities including harnessing and fixturing.
• Define test architecture and strategies with cross-discipline teams.
• Troubleshoot flight hardware and test setups using laboratory instrumentation.
• Perform hardware bring-up, interface validation, and end-to-end system checkout.
• Investigate failures and drive root-cause analysis with responsible teams.
• Improve test infrastructure to increase coverage, reliability, and throughput.
