Job summary

Collins Aerospace seeks a Principal Systems Engineer to join the Integrated Flight Systems Product Line Engineering group in Cedar Rapids, IA. You will lead avionics system design, integration, and certification for large business jets and transport platforms, coordinating across subsystems and with global certification agencies in an Agile setting.

Onsite role in Cedar Rapids, with emphasis on ARP4754A/DO-297 IMA implementation, test, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) at the system level.
• Strong understanding of Avionics, aircraft systems, and subsystems.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Ownership of assigned work and delivering high-quality results.

Responsibilities

• Complete design and requirements development activities.
• On-site execution of testing in a lab environment with schedule flexibility.
• Troubleshoot issues and report status to OEMs as needed.
• Operate rig facilities during testing and troubleshoot flight test scenarios.
• Test script development and execution.
• Produce PDR/CDR packages on aircraft features for OEMs.
• Produce system certification level documentation.
• Coordinate SW/HW work packages and avionics features across subsystems.
• Estimate and bid engineering efforts.
• Provide regular status updates to stakeholders.
• Ensure traceability and regulatory compliance across lifecycle.
• Collaborate with engineers across organizations.
