Job summary

RTX / Collins Aerospace is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to join the Integrated Flight Systems Product Line Engineering group in Cedar Rapids, IA. This role focuses on design, integration, certification, deployment and sustaining of avionics systems for large platforms, collaborating with cross-functional teams across domestic and international certification bodies.

Qualifications

• STEM degree plus 8+ years of experience, or an advanced degree with 5+ years of experience.
• Hands-on experience with Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) at the system level is required.
• Strong understanding of avionics, aircraft systems, and subsystems.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Proven ownership of assigned work and delivering quality results.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop avionics systems and requirements.
• Execute requirements-based testing in lab and flight environments.
• Produce PDR/CDR packages for aircraft features and present to OEMs.
• Coordinate SW/HW work packages and avionics features across subsystems.
• Estimate and bid engineering efforts; provide program status updates.
• Ensure traceability and regulatory compliance across development lifecycle.
