Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in Cedar Rapids, IA to support development and sustainment of communication products. This onsite role emphasizes strong system engineering across hardware and software integration, with a salary range of $86,800–$165,200 USD.

Responsibilities include deriving product requirements, decomposing for hardware/software, and defining verification strategies for avionic functions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM or equivalent; 5+ years of experience or Master’s with 3+ years.
• Experience with system-level decomposition and analysis; design allocation and integration planning.
• Experience integrating software, embedded software, or system software onto target hardware.
• Experience developing, executing, and troubleshooting system integration test procedures in lab or hardware-in-the-loop environments.
• Ability to debug integration issues across hardware, software, firmware, OS, drivers, and interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Develop product-level requirements from customer and industry specifications.
• Decompose requirements for software and hardware development.
• Define integration and verification strategies for avionic functions and products.
• Create test plans, test cases, and procedures; execute system verification.
• Perform hands-on integration of software, embedded software, system software, and hardware in a lab.
• Execute software integration testing on engineering development units and flight-like hardware.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues across hardware, software, firmware, OS, and interfaces.
• Use lab tools to support integration, verification, and root-cause analysis.
• Analyze data to optimize performance and efficiency in development activities.
• Communicate effectively to stakeholders including customers and program teams.
