Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States (New York area) seeks an experienced software engineering leader to drive end-to-end execution across planning, development, integration, verification, and sustainment of avionics software platforms.

The role requires coordinating multiple engineering teams, ensuring DO-178C and related requirements, and delivering milestones to stakeholders. Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM with 8+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 5+ years of experience.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Experience leading large software or multidisciplinary teams with complex interdependencies.
• Experience coordinating software deliverables across development, integration, verification, and systems levels.
• Experience managing technical software projects including schedules, risks, issues, and customer interaction.
• Familiar with avionics regulatory workflows (DO-178C/DO-160/ARP4754A/DO-297).
• Background in embedded software, RTOS, or avionics platforms; CI-verification workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily software execution across planning, development, integration, verification, and sustainment.
• Align software, hardware, and integration teams; own risk and schedule targets.
• Develop software plans with tasks, resources, schedules, and costs.
• Guide software backlogs, test plans, and integration events with vendors and customers.
• Represent software status and milestones to leadership and customers.
• Lead weekly cadence meetings and provide written summaries of actions.
• Provide strategic guidance when schedule or scope pressures arise.
