Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned Civil Engineer to lead aviation-focused civil and transportation design initiatives in New York. The role combines project design, supervision of junior staff, and coordination across disciplines to deliver complex infrastructure programs.

You will prepare bidding documents, develop layouts and cost estimates, manage schedules, and build strong relationships with aviation clients while guiding multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• 8 years’ experience with an emphasis in Aviation transportation.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE); Florida preferred.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to travel as needed ideally.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and support construction of civil and transportation projects focused on aviation development
• Perform and lead design tasks or projects, including supervising and directing junior staff
• Prepare bidding documents, including plans and specifications
• Develop horizontal and vertical layouts, site development, grading, drainage, pavement design, marking, signage, erosion control, utilities, quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and construction schedules
• Coordinate with other disciplines
• Support the client manager in servicing and developing relationships with existing aviation clients
• Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary tasks for aviation-group client projects
• Perform, assist with, or oversee construction-related tasks, including onsite construction observation and project engineering
• Assist with business development, prospective client outreach, submittal preparation, and community engagement
• Work with clients and communities to plan, advance, deliver, and manage civil infrastructure
