Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced avionics/test engineer to join the Lunar Permanence team in Washington. You will develop and execute test plans for avionics and optical hardware, lead test readiness, and collaborate with design teams to ensure robust environmental testing.

The role emphasizes hands-on testing, problem solving, and adherence to safety standards as we advance BLUE MOON lander programs and crew/cargo transport verification.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in electrical, computer, or aerospace engineering, physics, or related field.
  • 4 years aerospace test experience including developing test requirements, plans, procedures, reports, and test equipment/test setups; operating and troubleshooting test setups and test articles; environmental testing (Shock/Vibration, Thermal Cycles, Vacuum, EMI/EMC).
  • 3 years hardware test experience of avionics/optical devices at the LRU or system level (RS-422, RS-485, U2C, SPI, ethernet, MTF, SNR).
  • Proficient in standard electronic lab tests and troubleshooting equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and approve avionics test plans and procedures with expertise in avionics/optical systems testing and environmental test methodologies.
  • Support Design and Systems Engineers in avionics hardware design and verification planning.
  • Work with Hardware and Software Design Engineers to design, build, and verify custom Automated Test Equipment.
  • Support schedule development and resource coordination.
  • Lead test readiness efforts, resolve work stoppages, and delegate supporting tasks.
  • Lead and/or directly run test procedures; enforce safety during operations.
  • Troubleshoot test anomalies in real time and identify non-conformances in test articles/equipment.
  • Lead anomaly investigations and root cause analyses with recovery plans.
  • Consolidate, analyze, present, and archive test data; generate verification artifacts.
  • Guide avionics/optical hardware through environmental testing; ensure records meet requirements.
  • Develop/improve processes and procedures to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Train Test Specialists and other Test Engineers.
  • Support strategic initiatives and capture best practices.
