Job summary

Blue Origin is developing the Lunar Permanence program to return humans to the Moon and extend human presence in space. We seek an avionics leader to drive architecture, requirements, and interfaces for the Crewed Lander Avionics team, coordinating with NASA and partners on safety-critical, high-assurance systems.

You will lead cross-functional studies, manage ICDs, data budgets, system diagrams, and risk analyses while advancing MBSE practices and model-based design for a complex,

Qualifications

  • B.S. in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, chemical engineering, CS or related technical field.
  • 8+ years in full life cycle avionics systems development (requirements, design, integration, test, operations).
  • Deep experience integrating spacecraft subsystems – avionics, software, structures, GNC, power, etc.
  • Ability to define and manage communication protocols.
  • Understand common electrical digital/analog interfaces: Serial, Video, Audio, Ethernet, Analog Sensors, etc.
  • Strong systems engineering practices, integration processes, and safety-critical systems.
  • Ability to analyze complex systems and deliver results-oriented solutions.
  • Strong MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication.
  • Collaborative in fast-paced, dynamic environments; able to earn trust.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the negotiator between multiple stakeholders with conflicting interests to optimize the spacecraft design.
  • Contribute to or lead Avionics architecture studies, concept development, verification planning, vehicle integration, and operations support
  • Manage Avionics requirements development, definition, and maturity
  • Develop and manage Avionics physical, logical, and network configuration interface control documents (ICDs)
  • Develop and maintain data and communication budgets
  • Develop and maintain integrated electrical architecture diagrams.
  • Coordinate constraints and conflicting requirements across multiple disciplines
  • Contribute to or lead change management ensuring proper change impact assessment and coordination of design changes and their impacts across subsystems
  • Coordinate sensor selection and end-to-end sensor error analysis
  • Identify, assess, and manage program risks (technical, schedule, cost, integration)
  • Tool development for maintaining vehicle electrical configuration and definition.
