Job summary

Blue Origin's Lunar Permanence unit seeks an avionics lead for the Crewed Lander Avionics Team to develop avionics systems for the human-rated lander and interface with NASA and national partners.

You will lead cross-functional trade studies, define interfaces, manage requirements, ICDs, data budgets, and integrated electrical architecture, while collaborating in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum B.S. in a technical field (Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical Eng., CS).
  • 8+ years in full life cycle avionics development (requirements, design, integration, test, operations).
  • Deep experience integrating spacecraft or high-criticality subsystems (Avionics, Software, Structures, GNC, power).
  • Experience defining and managing communication protocols.
  • Understanding of common electrical digital/analog interfaces (Serial, Video, Ethernet, sensors).
  • Strong systems engineering practices, integration processes, and safety-critical systems.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex systems and deliver results.
  • Strong MS Excel skills; excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate between stakeholders to optimize spacecraft design.
  • Lead avionics architecture studies, concept development, verification planning, and vehicle integration.
  • Manage avionics requirements development, definition, and maturity.
  • Develop and manage avionics physical, logical, and network ICDs.
  • Develop and maintain data and communication budgets.
  • Develop and maintain integrated electrical architecture diagrams.
  • Coordinate constraints across disciplines and manage design changes.
  • Coordinate sensor selection and end-to-end sensor error analysis.
  • Identify, assess, and manage program risks (tech, schedule, cost, integration).
  • Develop tools for maintaining vehicle electrical configuration and definition.
