Job summary

Blue Origin, based in Merritt Island, FL, is seeking an experienced Wire Harness Design engineer to lead electrical harness development for the Mk1 Vehicle. You will create WIDs, 3D routed harness data, and installation drawings, impacting spaceflight history.

The role requires 7+ years in aerospace harness design, strong CAD skills, and familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620A and NASA standards. U.S. citizen status or equivalent is required by export controls.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Computer Engineering, or related technical subject area.
• 7+ years of experience designing Wire Harnesses for the Aerospace industry.
• Familiar with Creo, Zuken, Windchill or other high-end CAD routing software (Unigraphics NX, Catia).
• Understanding and application of wire derating analysis.
• Familiar with IPC/WHMA-A-620A and NASA-STD-8739.4 harness standards.
• Strong electrical/mechanical design and integration skills using 3-D CAD software.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication and high-speed data signals.
• Select harness components, connectors, backshells, cable and wire.
• Create Wiring diagrams using Zuken E3.
• Create 3D routed harness data files using Creo Cabling.
• Produce harness detail and installation drawings from 3D data.
• Design and integrate harness support brackets.
• Support design configuration development and trade studies.
• Provide technical guidance for hardware installation.
• Support assembly and testing of cables and harnesses.
• Report activity schedule and technical status.
• Identify opportunities for technical improvements.
