Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks an experienced Avionics Harness Design Engineer III for the Mk1 Vehicle Electrical Harness Design team, focusing on wiring interconnect diagrams, harness assembly and installation drawings. You will develop 3D routed harness data and support hardware installation with 3-D CAD tools in a safety-focused spaceflight environment.

The role requires 7+ years in aerospace harness design, familiarity with Creo and Zuken, and strong electrical/mechanical integration skills.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Computer Engineering, or related technical subject area.
• 7+ years of experience designing Wire Harnesses for the Aerospace industry.
• Familiar with Creo, Zuken or Windchill or other high-end CAD routing software such as Unigraphics NX Electrical or Catia.
• Understanding and application of wire derating analysis.
• Familiar with IPC/WHMA-A-620A, NASA-STD-8739.4 harness standards.
• Strong electrical/mechanical design and integration skills using 3-D CAD software.

Responsibilities

• Design of electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication and high-speed data signal.
• Selection of harness components and hardware, connectors, backshells, cable and wire.
• Create Wiring diagrams utilizing Zuken E3.
• Create 3D routed harness data files utilizing Creo Cabling.
• Create harness detail and installation drawings including 2D flat harness drawings from the 3D harness data sets.
• Design and integration of harness support brackets.
• Support design configuration development and trade studies.
• Provide technical guidance for hardware installation.
• Support the assembly and testing of cables and harnesses.
• Report on activity schedule and technical status.
• Identify opportunities for technical improvements.
