Job summary

Leidos Albuquerque Hypersonics is seeking a Sr Electrical Engineer to lead the design and integration of avionics, electronics, and LRUs for missile systems and UAVs. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team delivering high-assurance hardware in a demanding defense environment.

The role requires advanced hardware architecture expertise, DoD standards knowledge, Top-Secret clearance, and willingness to travel. Location is Albuquerque, NM with relocation as needed.

Qualifications

  • Active Top-Secret Clearance.
  • 15+ years of hardware architecture experience (or 17+ years with a bachelor’s degree).
  • Experience as a hardware architect or technical lead for flight-worthy electronics, avionics assemblies, and PCBA design.
  • Extensive hands-on with SoC/FPGA, RTOS, and high-speed digital/analog interfaces.
  • Familiar with MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1472, IPC-D-620 Class 3, IPC-D-630.
  • Leadership experience as IPT Lead, product owner, or scrum master in an agile environment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; candidate must have an active Top-Secret clearance.
  • Willingness to travel 10-20%.
  • Residence in or relocation to Albuquerque, NM area.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, lead, and deliver avionics, electrical weapon interfaces, and LRUs for missiles, UAVs, and launch platforms.
  • Support system co-designs using Xilinx/AMD Zynq SoCs, Altera FPGAs, MicroBlaze, and complex network architectures.
  • Oversee multi-layer PDN, low-noise regulation, rigid-flex PCBA layouts, and high-speed interfaces (PCIe, RF modems).
  • Lead multi-disciplinary IPTs for electronics, cabling, grounding, and bonding; host weekly tech interchange with subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with systems engineering to translate DoD standards into hardware requirements; provide schedule estimates for EVMS and proposals.
  • Serve as certified test conductor or lead verification engineer; establish test plans, HWIL integration, and launch readiness.
