Job summary

Leidos Defense is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to drive hardware architecture for avionics, DoD flight instrumentation, and next‑gen LRUs for UAVs and missiles. You will shape embedded designs, manage HW/SW integration, and guide lifecycle activities across IPTs.

You will translate military standards into robust hardware requirements, lead verification efforts, and collaborate with systems engineering to deliver mission-critical solutions. A Top‑Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Active Top-Secret Clearance is required.
• Master's degree in electrical engineering or related STEM with 10+ years of hardware architecture experience, or a bachelor's with 12+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven background as hardware architect or technical lead designing flight-worthy electronics and avionics assemblies.
• Extensive experience with SoC/FPGA systems, RTOS environments, and high-frequency digital/analog interfaces.
• Strong experience with defense standards and hardware lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

• Architect, lead, and deliver avionics and LRUs for missile systems and UAVs.
• Oversee PDN definitions, multi-rail regulation circuits, and high-speed interfaces.
• Lead IPTs for electronics, cabling, grounding, and bonding; coordinate with subcontractors.
• Translate military standards into hardware requirements and support EVM/cost proposals.
• Act as test conductor or lead verification engineer for system-level testing.
