Job summary

RTX's Collins Aerospace unit in Cedar Rapids, IA, is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join the service engineering and support team onsite. The role involves coordinating with customers and internal teams, installing avionics equipment, and supporting multiple military installations across the US.

The position requires a STEM background with at least 5 years of relevant experience, active security clearance, and willingness to travel up to 75%.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and 5+ years of prior relevant experience.
• Must hold a current, valid driver’s license.
• Experience with Python programming, Wireshark, and Linux administration.
• Experience in avionics, integration, post-installation testing, and certification activities.
• Experience training customers and system users, both ad-hoc and in the classroom.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site maintenance capabilities, including component triage and testing, repair, replacement and upgrade as needed.
• Interface with customers and have a broad understanding of systems across multiple platforms.
• Execute program milestones per schedule and manage critical path dependencies for successful outcomes.
• Advise the customer on installation of avionics equipment on ground, airborne, and shipboard platforms.
