Job summary

Blue Origin's Honeybee Robotics Exploration Systems division is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead avionics development for planetary exploration hardware at our Southern California location. You will interface with mechanical, software, and control teams throughout the product lifecycle, from conception to flight-ready hardware.

The role requires strong leadership, extensive hardware experience, and a passion for safe human spaceflight.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
  • 9+ years hardware development and testing across lifecycle; 4+ years in aerospace.
  • Expert with electrical lab equipment.
  • Experience in power electronics, motor control, embedded systems, or sensor instrumentation.
  • PCB layout with controlled impedance and high-rel materials.
  • Ability to work independently on rapid development programs.
  • Experience with FMEA and circuit analysis (SPICE/LTSpice).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical leader overseeing a small team of engineers and mentoring juniors.
  • Design avionics systems including interfaces, requirements, and PCB functions.
  • Design, manufacture, and test high-reliability PCBs for avionics applications.
  • Create wiring harness design and assembly instructions for high-reliability use.
  • Develop EGSE design and documentation.
  • Plan and execute tests across integration, environmental, and radiation labs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify tech risks and provide solutions.
