Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced engineer to lead Development Flight Instrumentation for the MK-1 lunar lander. You will own the DFI lifecycle, design avionics architectures, and collaborate with sensor teams to ensure robust data collection for lunar missions.

The role requires a strong background in avionics, imaging systems, and hands-on testing using C++ and Python. Join a mission-driven team advancing spaceflight reliability and safety.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Aerospace engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years in avionics/instrumentation and electro-optical imaging systems engineering.
  • Experience owning a subsystem across the full lifecycle: requirements, design, integration, and verification.
  • Familiar with LVDS, SpaceWire, GigE Vision, CSI-2, Ethernet interfaces.
  • Experience with test campaigns and scripting in C++ and Python.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical authority for Development Flight Instrumentation (DFI) for lunar missions.
  • Architect and design DFI solutions using custom and COTS avionics hardware.
  • Design, integrate, and test flight hardware to meet system requirements and mission targets.
  • Develop and maintain ground support equipment and test electronics for instrumentation.
  • Coordinate sensor installation, calibration, and integration with product teams.
