Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in the Greater Seattle Area is seeking an Avionics Chief Engineer to lead electrical systems oversight across engine programs, ensuring safety, reliability, and design-for-manufacturability.

You will chair design reviews, mentor engineers, collaborate across sites and customers, and drive cost-efficient solutions for spaceflight hardware in a fast-paced environment. Domestic travel and site assignments to Seattle and Huntsville may be required.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace or equivalent.
  • 15+ years in development and production of avionics and safety-critical electronic systems.
  • Experience with analog, digital, software and firmware designs and development processes.
  • Experience with wire harness design including production considerations.
  • Design and application of instrumentation sensors and actuators.
  • Knowledge of full development, verification and certification for safety-critical avionics.
  • Experience in avionics manufacturing to provide production support.
  • Ability to lead cohesive teams and drive decisions.
  • Leadership in aerospace product development.
  • Willingness to travel/temporary duty.
  • Commitment to inclusion and trust in relationships.
  • U.S. citizen/national or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Provide avionics technical oversight across programs.
  • Chair gated design reviews for avionics systems and components.
  • Collaborate with product teams to meet cost and schedule targets.
  • Mentor early career engineers and foster collaboration across sites.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks with respect to program cost and schedule.
