IAT Insurance Group's Aviation team has an opening for an Aviation Underwriting Specialist. This role may base in Scottsdale, AZ; Anaheim, CA; Pasadena, CA; Alpharetta, GA; Naperville, IL; Rolling Meadows, IL; Jersey City, NJ; Newark, NJ; Williamsville, NY; or Plano, TX.

For the right candidate, remote work will be considered. The position involves evaluating complex situations, building relationships in commercial aviation and general liability, and traveling up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 5+ years in commercial insurance or risk management.
• Ability to apply loss development and advanced loss analysis to pricing.
• Capable of using coverage features, deductibles, or reinsurance to meet company objectives.
• Strong math, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
• Authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not required.

Responsibilities

• Review underwriting files to accept new business or renewals within authority.
• Assess exposure using data, loss control, and external databases to identify changes in risk.
• Set account premium levels using established plans within authority limits.
• Interpret contracts and policies to determine exposures and provide guidance.
• Clarify coverage for the Claims Department based on experience.
• Market to agencies to generate new business and support annual reviews.
