Job summary

IAT Insurance Group’s Aviation team seeks an Aviation Underwriting Specialist with 5+ years in commercial aviation and general liability underwriting. This role may be based in multiple U.S. locations with remote options for the right candidate.

The position combines file analysis, premium setting, and contract interpretation, with travel up to 25% and a hybrid schedule. Strong communication and risk modeling skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years underwriting experience in commercial insurance or equivalent.
• Equivalent is defined as 9+ years of risk management experience.
• Ability to apply loss development and advanced loss analysis to price risk.
• Creatively utilize coverage features, deductibles or reinsurance to meet objectives.
• Strong math, verbal/written communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills.
• Proficient with computer programs and spreadsheets.
• Authorized to work in the United States without VISA sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Review underwriting files to accept new business or renew with authority.
• Analyze documents to verify exposure and minimize risk using data sources.
• Determine account premiums within approved plans and authority limits.
• Interpret contracts/policies to identify exposures and provide guidance.
• Clarify coverage with Claims Department and external partners.
• Market to agencies to generate new business flow.
• Travel up to 25% and support agency visits.
