Job summary

IAT Insurance Group seeks an Aviation Underwriting Specialist to evaluate significant aviation and general liability cases and build their own book of business. The role supports hybrid work with in-office Mon-Wed and optional remote Thursdays/Fridays, located in Plano TX or other listed locations, with remote consideration for the right candidate.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in underwriting in aviation and GL, strong quantitative and negotiation skills, and the ability to travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years in commercial insurance or risk management.
• Ability to apply loss development and advanced loss analysis.
• Capable of using coverage features and reinsurance for pricing.
• Strong verbal and written communication and negotiation skills.
• Authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not required.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze underwriting files to accept new business or renewals within authority.
• Assess documents in underwriting files to confirm accuracy and minimize risk exposure.
• Determine account premium levels using company guidelines within authority.
• Read and interpret contracts to determine exposures and provide guidance.
• Clarify and verify coverage to the Claims Department.
• Market to assigned agencies to achieve new business flow.
• Assess agency activity and provide guidance during annual visits.
• Travel up to 25%.
