Job summary

The Weitz Company seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead aviation construction efforts in the Des Moines area. You will manage complex projects, oversee safety and quality, and drive financial performance.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in construction with large aviation project experience and strong leadership, negotiation, and scheduling skills. We offer a robust benefits package and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Education: industry-related college degree required; equivalent experience considered.
• Experience: minimum of 10 years of construction experience; large aviation project experience required.
• Skills: business acumen, leadership, negotiation, and strong project-management ability.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage project schedule; address long lead items and update plans.
• Negotiate and execute change orders, subcontracts and purchase orders.
• Complete monthly project status reports, owner billings and financial risk assessments.
• Identify value engineering and scope reduction opportunities.
• Ensure project safety plan is communicated to teams and subs.
• Assist with preconstruction efforts and buy-out processes.
• Detect constructability issues and ensure compliance with contracts and budgets.
• Recommend staff development needs, disciplinary actions, and assignments.
• Monitor progress and maintain quality standards across multiple projects.
• Support overall project leadership and apply company policies.
