Job summary

The Weitz Company’s Iowa Team is seeking a Project Manager II to oversee multiple medium-sized projects or a large project in Des Moines, IA. This role collaborates with the Project Superintendent and handles all administrative and field construction activities for assigned projects.

The position requires 5+ years in commercial construction project management, leadership experience, and proficiency with project management tools like JDE, Procore, Bluebeam, and Asta.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial construction project management experience.
• Experience leading and mentoring teams.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage project schedules and long-lead items.
• Negotiate and execute change orders, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
• Complete monthly project status reports, owner billings, and risk assessments.
• Identify value engineering and scope reduction opportunities.
• Ensure project safety plan is communicated to the team and subs.
• Assist with preconstruction efforts.
• Manage buy-out process.
• Identify constructability issues with design.
• Understand contracts, budgets, insurances, bonds, and change orders within scope.
• Recommend staff development and promotions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
