Job summary

AutoNation is seeking a Senior Autonomous Vehicle Technician in San Francisco to lead complex diagnostics and repair of AV powertrain, sensor suites, and control modules. You will guide technicians, validate sensor performance, and coordinate with engineering and operations on fleet-wide improvements.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in automotive/EV/AV tech with leadership experience, strong CAN/LIN troubleshooting, and hands-on sensor system expertise.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as automotive/EV/AV technician, including leadership or mentorship responsibilities.
• Expert diagnostic skills with both mechanical and electrical vehicle systems.
• Hands-on experience with sensor systems (LiDAR, radar, cameras) and computer hardware.

Responsibilities

• Lead advanced diagnostics and repairs for AV powertrain, sensing, and control modules.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement repair procedures.
• Calibrate LiDAR, radar, cameras, GPS, IMUs, and perception systems to meet AV standards.
• Install, configure, and replace AV components and support software deployments.
• Provide on-road and closed-course testing support and handle high-priority incidents.
• Mentor junior technicians and drive continuous improvement across the fleet.
