Job summary

Uber’s Autonomous Mobility and Delivery Safety team seeks a technical lead to evaluate safety and maturity of AV partners joining the Uber platform. You will define technical rubrics, perform deep safety reviews, and communicate with external partners and Uber leadership.

Lead partner onboarding, ensure compliance with safety standards, and translate regulatory requirements into engineering solutions. You will apply AI responsibly and drive V&V improvements across vehicle systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
• 7+ years in systems engineering with hardware/software integration.
• Proven safety-critical AV experience and SRA/V&V familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain technical rubrics and safety benchmarks for AV stacks.
• Lead partner integration with external and internal engineering teams.
• Author comprehensive Safety Risk Assessments (SRA).
• Translate local regulatory requirements into engineering solutions and assess impact on vehicle systems and user behavior.
• Evolve partner onboarding and assessment frameworks for scalability and robustness.
• Act as the face of Uber's safety engineering team to external partners and provide high-stakes briefings to cross-functional stakeholders.
• Evaluate and apply AI/ML-based approaches to safety validation with proper oversight.
