Job summary

Avidex in Fremont, CA is seeking a Field Engineering Supervisor to lead and develop our Field Engineering team while performing hands-on AV/IT system commissioning and troubleshooting. You will guide project delivery, ensure quality, and collaborate to improve standards on complex AV/IT integrations.

The role combines staff leadership with technical depth in control systems, DSP, networking, and programming across Crestron, Extron, AMX, and related platforms.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 4+ years of AV/IT industry experience providing technical or engineering support.
• Strong leadership, coaching, organizational, and communication skills.
• Advanced proficiency with AV/IT software, tools, and test equipment.
• Advanced experience setting up and adjusting audio, video, and conferencing systems.
• Advanced experience with digital signal processors (Biamp, BSS, Crestron, Extron, QSC).
• Advanced proficiency configuring wired and wireless TCP/IP networks.
• Advanced proficiency loading, testing, and editing AV control code and GUI files.
• Proficiency with Crestron, Extron, and AMX programming languages.
• Working knowledge of Python, HTML, C# and digital communication protocols (IP, RS232, RS485, USB).
• Ability to travel and work evenings or weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day activities and development of Field Engineering staff.
• Provide coaching, mentorship, and technical training to support employee development.
• Establish responsibilities and accountability for team performance.
• Provide hands-on field engineering support including configuration, programming, testing, and commissioning.
• Partner with project teams to ensure successful installation and commissioning.
• Improve Field Engineering procedures and technical standards with management.
• Support recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of staff.
• Ensure subcontractor work meets quality standards and requirements.
• Provide backup support to Field Engineering and Managed Services teams as needed.
• Maintain licenses and OSHA compliance.
