General Motors seeks a Staff Software Engineer for the AV HIL Software Platforms team to design, implement, and scale high-fidelity hardware-in-the-loop validation platforms for AV software. You will bridge AV software, AI models, and vehicle hardware, leading critical initiatives across multiple product groups and driving operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience designing, developing, and delivering production-quality software systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; Master’s or PhD preferred.
• Expert software engineering fundamentals with strong coding ability in Python, C++, or comparable languages.
• Experience defining and executing technical strategy for complex, distributed hardware-software systems with broad impact.
• Experience in Linux environments and full software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the long-term technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for AV HIL software platforms and integration services across multiple products and teams.
• Lead design and evolution of scalable, reliable, observable, hardware-aware HIL capabilities for AV software validation.
• Establish architectural direction and standards for platform services, APIs, test automation, performance, and operations.
• Own complex technical problems spanning AV software, AI, hardware, infrastructure, and deployment pipelines.
• Translate needs into clear technical strategies, measurable outcomes, and incremental delivery plans.
• Influence decisions across the AV organization and build alignment with stakeholders.
• Deliver reliable software through CI, automated testing, observability, release readiness, and support.
• Identify opportunities to improve scalability, fidelity, productivity, and cost efficiency.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to critical software designs, raising engineering quality.
• Represent AV HIL Software Platforms in architecture reviews and planning forums.
