Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior System Design Engineer to define and lead the system design and technical specifications for automated driving technologies. You will bridge system, architecture, hardware and software domains and drive early stage design for next-generation vehicles.

You will act as SME for AV/ADAS and guide software system design, software anomaly corrections, and test migration to automated pipelines, with on-bench and on-vehicle integration work and cross-functional

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with automotive or similar electronic modules and systems engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
• Proven ability to write and understand software and hardware requirements and interfaces.
• Experience with requirement management tools such as DOORS, DNG, JAMA, etc.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with remote teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and generate technical solutions including requirements specification, decomposition, analysis, development and testing for programs.
• Design system interfaces and requirements with detailed design validation using Protobufs and feature files.
• Lead software system design content and address software anomalies.
• Perform complex design analysis and balance system requirements.
• Provide and promote best practices among software teams and cross-functional peers.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and system specifications using tools like Jira, Jama, Confluence, GitHub, Rhapsody and Visual Studio.
• Lead FMEA and allocate failure modes to execution teams.
• Participate in cross-functional discussions to align with peers and downstream customers.
