Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Mossville, IL, is seeking a Senior Autonomy Validation Engineer to lead lab-based validation for the CfH Autonomous program. You will own validation scenarios, analyze machine data and drive model fidelity using MATLAB/Simulink and real-world tests.

Required is strong ownership, troubleshooting, and collaboration with SI&V leads, product teams, and field-support partners. Travel up to 10% and full-time onsite work at Mossville, IL are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
• Experience validating autonomous, HIL/SIL, or complex systems.
• Knowledge of validation plans, traceability, and evidence packages.

Responsibilities

• Validate CfH autonomous workflows using HIL benches and simulations.
• Develop validation scenarios, test cases, and regression tests.
• Analyze machine data, logs, and field results to identify performance gaps.
• Improve model fidelity and validation coverage using real data.
• Create and maintain real-time MATLAB/Simulink models for dynamics and control.
• Configure and troubleshoot CAN/J1939, Ethernet, and sensor interfaces.
