Job summary

Heven AeroTech is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Autonomy to own the development of autonomy capabilities for uncrewed aircraft systems. You will translate mission needs into software requirements, architecture, and implementations across perception, tracking, fusion, planning, and flight‑control interfaces.

This is a hands‑on senior IC role with technical leadership, mentoring of junior engineers, and close collaboration with Platform, Flight Test, avionics, and mechanical teams.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years in autonomy, robotics, ML, or related embedded software systems.
• Lead a significant technical effort from requirements through testing.
• Strong C++ and Python development, Linux-based environments.
• Experience in perception, tracking, sensor fusion, autonomous decision making, or planning, and integrating into a vehicle system.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical execution of autonomy capabilities, including requirements development, architecture, implementation, integration, verification, and delivery.
• Translate mission needs into defined autonomous behaviors, operating constraints, measurable performance requirements, and test acceptance criteria.
• Make technical tradeoffs across ML, deterministic logic, state machines, behavior trees, planners, and optimization methods.
• Design and implement mission-level autonomous behaviors, including mission execution and replanning.
• Lead development of perception capabilities: detection, classification, tracking, sensor fusion, and geospatial reasoning.
• Define interfaces between autonomy software, autopilots, mission computers, sensors, and data links.
• Develop production-grade C++/Python software for real-time execution and verify latency and compute usage on GPUs.
