Job summary

AeroVect is transforming ground handling with autonomy, delivering a real-world autonomous system for aviation services. We seek a Principal Engineer for Autonomy to own end-to-end capability across perception, prediction and planning, with cross-stack influence and hands-on leadership.

This is a senior IC role reporting to the VP of Engineering, with no direct reports. You will steer technical direction, ship concrete autonomy features, and drive real-world deployment on vehicles, partnering

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of hands-on experience building production autonomy systems.
  • Shipping autonomy components that run in real vehicles at scale.
  • Experience as the most senior individual contributor in an autonomy organization.
  • Deepest technical depth in perception, prediction, or planning.
  • Strong software fundamentals in C++ and Python.
  • Fluency with modern deep learning for autonomy.
  • Experience working with ROS/ROS 2 and real-time on-vehicle compute.
  • Bias for execution — ship and run code on a vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Own the perception stack design and evolution across detection, classification, tracking and fusion.
  • Own the prediction stack for intent inference, behavior forecasting, and edge-case handling.
  • Own the planning and decision-making stack from behaviors to domain-specific maneuvers.
  • Set cross-stack technical direction and align with other senior autonomy engineers.
  • Own the autonomy stack architecture and collaborate with neighboring teams.
