Job summary

Torc is seeking a Senior Autonomy Core Frameworks Software Engineer to lead architecture and evolution of core autonomous frameworks. You will own design decisions for real-time C++ components, define scalable patterns, and collaborate with Behavior and Perception teams to ensure robust, testable, and observable software platforms.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience or
• Demonstrated success designing and evolving complex production software platforms with ownership of architectural decisions
• Deep experience with C++17 and recent standards
• Comfortable with using Python to script glue systems
• Experience with autonomous systems/robotics, distributed systems, or complex embedded environments using pub/sub middleware
• Strong experience with testing, CI, and build systems
• Deep experience with systems-level software design and maintaining stability and performance
• Experience mentoring engineers through technical leadership and architecture reviews

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and evolution of core frameworks for Torc's autonomous driving stack
• Drive the technical direction for real-time C++ components and data flow
• Establish scalable architectural patterns and design decisions for long-term platform scalability
• Collaborate with Behavior and Perception teams to keep integration boundaries clear
• Lead architecture reviews, design discussions, and code reviews to improve reliability and maintainability
• Mentor engineers through technical coaching and architectural guidance
• Champion architectural quality with validation, testing strategies, and observability
• Contribute to root cause analysis and architectural improvements for performance and resilience
• Define and evolve simulation and validation frameworks for core components
• Evaluate emerging patterns and safety-critical software development standards
• Communicate architectural concepts and strategy across teams and leadership
