Job summary

Torc is seeking an experienced engineer to own the architecture for scalable vehicle modeling and simulation. You will develop high-fidelity dynamics models and drive validation metrics to support safety claims, while scaling robust testing and closed-loop evaluation frameworks.

The role requires deep C++, Python, ROS/ROS2, CMake, and Linux proficiency, plus a track record in autonomous vehicle simulation and cross-functional leadership. Competitive US pay range applies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus 10+ years of relevant experience; or Master's 7+ years; or PhD 3+ years.
  • Deep proficiency in C++ (primary), Python for tooling, ROS/ROS2, CMake, and Linux.
  • Strong background in physics-based modeling of ground vehicles, including dynamics and tire models.
  • Experience defining statistical validation metrics and robustness testing frameworks.
  • Experience with unit, integration, and regression testing, automated validation pipelines, and simulations at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the technical architecture for scalable vehicle modeling and simulation across vehicle types and fleets.
  • Develop high-fidelity truck and vehicle dynamics models spanning nominal, off-nominal, and failure modes.
  • Define and drive statistical validation metrics to support safety case claims.
  • Design and scale robustness testing frameworks for autonomy software and RL training.
  • Lead simulation platforms for closed-loop evaluation pipelines at scale and oversee cross-org architectural decisions.
