Job summary

Bot Auto seeks a Senior Functional Safety Engineer to define, analyze, validate, and improve the safety of our autonomous trucking platform. You will work with autonomy, vehicle, hardware, software, operations, and validation teams to ensure a rigorously safe system for Level 4 operations.

You will own hazard analyses, safety requirements, safety cases, and verification evidence, driving safety governance and launch readiness in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Systems/Electrical/Mechanical/Robotics/CS/Automotive).
• 7+ years in systems safety, autonomous systems, or safety-critical engineering.
• Strong experience with safety analyses (HARA, FMEA, FTA, STPA) and safety cases.

Responsibilities

• Lead system safety analysis for autonomy platform (software, controls, perception, planning, compute, sensors).
• Develop and maintain hazard analyses, safety concepts, safety requirements, safety cases, and risk assessments.
• Translate hazards and risks into clear, testable safety requirements for engineering, validation, operations, and fleet teams.
