Job summary

Pep Boys is seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to diagnose drivability and electrical systems across a busy shop. You will lead, mentor, and collaborate with teammates to deliver exceptional customer care and accurate repair recommendations.

With 3+ years of automotive repair experience and ASE certification standing, you will explain complex diagnostics clearly to customers, maintain a clean workspace, and follow safety protocols while meeting production goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3+ years of automotive diagnostic, troubleshooting and repair experience.
• 4+ ASE certifications preferred (A4, A5 plus two from list).
• Section 609 certification required.
• State Inspection license where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications for brake/hydraulic, exhaust, ignition, electrical, suspension, A/C and computer systems.
• Perform duties of lower technician levels as needed.
• Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to customers and staff.
• Continuously learn new automotive tech information in formal training.
• Assist fellow technicians in performing technical activities.
• Keep management informed of repair problems as they occur.
• Maintain an organized and neat shop.
• Adhere to company policies, safety and environmental rules.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

3+ years automotive mechanical diagnosis

4+ ASE certifications preferred

Section 609 certification

State Inspection license
