Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a highly experienced Automotive Safety/Restraints Engineer to lead the design, development, validation, and production launch of critical safety systems including seatbelts, airbags, steering wheels, and related sensors.

This role drives cross-functional collaboration with supplier teams while overseeing CAD design, DFMEA, validation, change management, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
• 10 years of experience developing, validating, and launching automotive safety components.
• Proficiency with CATIA V6 or equivalent CAD software.
• Strong knowledge of FMVSS, ECE, GB safety regulations; familiarity with NCAP/IIHS testing.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of seatbelts, airbags, steering wheels, sensors, and safety hardware from concept through production.
• Track development performance, timing, and targets; manage cross-functional alignment.
• Lead CAD design in CATIA V6 and 3DX for restraints; manage BOM changes.
• Drive DFMEA, risk mitigation, validation plans, and sign-off on results.
• Coordinate with suppliers and ICC during builds and new process implementations.
