Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA seeks an experienced Automotive Safety/Restraints Engineer to lead design, validation, and production launch of seatbelts, airbags, steering wheels, and sensors. This role will drive cross-functional collaboration across the vehicle development lifecycle, with on-site locations in Irvine or Moreno Valley.

Responsibilities include CATIA V6 CAD design, DFMEA, 3DX change management, supplier coordination, and regulatory compliance (FMVSS/ECE).

Qualifications

• Bachelors of Science in Engineering discipline.
• 10 years developing, validating, and launching safety components in automotive systems.
• Proficient in CAD modeling in CATIA V6 or other design software.
• Strong working knowledge of FMVSS, ECE, GB safety regulations.
• Strong working knowledge of NCAP, IIHS, and other consumer rating protocols.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of safety hardware (seatbelts, airbags, steering wheels, sensors) from concept through production.
• Track and maintain product development performance, timing, and commercial targets.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align goals and execution.
• Lead DFMEA development and implement risk mitigation actions.
• Develop and execute product validation plans and sign-off on results.
• Manage supplier collaborations and reviews during validation and production.
