Job summary

Pieper Automation seeks a Senior Engineer, Automation Service to design, program, install, and support industrial automation systems on client sites across North America. You will collaborate with customers, mentor junior staff, and help scope projects and estimates in a fast-paced field-service environment.

The role requires strong PLC/HMI skills, hands-on problem solving, and a proactive, safety‑driven mindset, with travel to various customer sites as needed.

Qualifications

• 10+ years hands-on industrial automation experience across manufacturing, material handling, processing, logistics, and other industries.
• Deep expertise in automation and controls, including PLC & HMIs programming, sensors, and motor controls.
• Experience with IT system integration and multiple industrial networks is required.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, install, and support automated systems across a variety of industrial applications.
• Program PLCs and HMIs from scratch or modify existing codes to meet project requirements.
• Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Perform onsite service calls, diagnosing issues and delivering solutions efficiently.
• Provide ongoing technical support and maintenance for deployed systems to ensure reliable performance.
• Support business development by identifying opportunities, scoping work, and assisting with estimates.
• Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians as the department grows.
• Collaborate with customers to recommend improvements and value-added solutions.
