Job summary
Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Senior Automation Project Engineer in Huntsville, AL to lead automated manufacturing initiatives across production lines. The role requires hands-on mechanical and controls expertise, strong leadership, and a track record delivering production-ready automation systems.
You will collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supplier teams to optimize manufacturability and drive project success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Mechatronics, or related engineering field.
- Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in design, build, and commissioning of automated manufacturing systems.
- 2+ years in a project management/leadership role on capital equipment projects.
- Experience with automation simulation and cycle time analysis tools.
- US citizenship or suitable status to work in the US.
Responsibilities
- Engage internal customers to define, document, and validate automation system requirements.
- Develop conceptual simulations and cycle time models for manufacturing lines to evaluate automation strategies.
- Lead DFAM initiatives with design teams and propose manufacturability improvements.
- Prepare cost estimates, labor hours, and schedules; create scope of work for machinery.
- Own project execution from requirements through commissioning; manage scope, schedule, and budget.
